I present the most recent list of scientists with the greatest impact in our time. Are ranked according to members of the pantheon have appeared in books, allowing scientists to compare different research fields such as mathematics, physics, and social sciences. The two creators of list are Adrian Veres and John Bohannon. Two pioneers in a new research field called culturomics (culturómica), which is the quantitative exploration of digital data records. The method used in this field is the analysis of millions of books and search for words or phrases in these books. Obviously nobody has time to read both, so take advantage of a relatively new technology: Google, Google Books particular . This service now has 15 million books, of which 4% were used for the study. These digitized books is easy to look up words and names.
first thing they did Veres and Bohannon was to compile a comprehensive list of scientists. Wikipedia served as a database where they got, using a special algorithm, the names. Then counted the number of occurrences of each of the names of scientists in the books Google Books. A greater number of citations per year means a name a place higher on the list.
Here it is:

Why Charles Darwin has exactly 1000 miliDarwin (mD), or 1 Darwin, and what this unit? Darwin is one of the most famous scientists, whose work has had a tremendous impact on our understanding of the world. To honor this, and Bohannon Veres named the unit of measure with his name. This measure is defined as the average annual frequency that the name "Charles Darwin" in books written in English since 1839, the year that Darwin turned 30.
In fact we can all use Google Books for research using a service called Ngram . You can see the use of words over time or compare several terms. For example, Batman vs. Superman:
seems that Superman has more fans than Batman ...
